NEB Local Chapter Region Stockholm
About NEB
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an initiative launched by the European Commission in 2020 to foster a sustainable, inclusive, and aesthetically pleasing transformation of living spaces and environments across Europe. It builds on the legacy of the original Bauhaus movement but focuses on modern challenges such as climate change, social inclusion, and digitalization. The NEB seeks to blend design, sustainability, and innovation, aiming to create spaces that are environmentally friendly, economically viable, and accessible to all.
Coordinators
The local chapter in the Stockholm region is coordinated by two contrasting organizations, highlighting the adaptability and scalability of such local chapters. RISE, one of the nation's most prestigious research institutes, home to thousands of researchers, collaborates in synergy with Blivande, an urban community of civic actors and creatives. Together, they exemplify how diverse entities can unite to drive impactful local initiatives.

What are Local Chapters?
A NEB Local Chapter is a self-organised, place-based group of NEB community members thatcontribute to the delivery of the New European Bauhaus initiative by putting its values andprinciples into practice in their locality. In the context of the NEB initiative, a local chapter allows creating, decentralising, anddelegating coordination roles in the community, as well as strengthening a multilevelapproach. Ideally, a Chapter is established at a local level; but considering differences between thecountries and geographical areas represented within the NEB community, the scale of a localchapter can vary from local, municipal to regional, and even national level.
Region Stockholm Local Chapter
NEB Stockholm is open to Individuals, Organisations, Academia, Non-Governmental Organisations, Municipalities and Businesses who are actively engaged with the initiative and share the three inseparable core values – sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion - and based in the Capital region of Sweden, Stockholms Län (County). Our intentions in establishing the Stockholm Local Chapter are to create a local ecosystem for individuals and organisations who share the passion and the urgency, to create a more sustainable, beautiful, and inclusive future society. Currently, the chapter has 10+ members and was established in February 2024 as one of the first chapters EU wide.
Vision of the Chapter
The aim for the Local Chapter is to become a meeting-place where chapter-members can gather, discuss, exchange and develop project ideas, tools and methods together or with the support of each other. The Stockholm Local Chapter is thought to become a platform for cross-sectorial action focusing on fundamental instead of decorative change. Societal transformation is a complex task and it will require a lot of experimentation, bravery and peer support to be prototyped by interdisciplinary, multigenerational and cross-hierarchical project teams. We want to be that contribution to our changing region.
