Participatory Program Development (past)
A co-created cultural program
We have implemented a co-created cultural program at Frihamnstorget, featuring 48 public events and activities that attracted approximately 8,200 visitors. These activities were primarily scheduled during the summer months and were organized in collaboration with a diverse group of participants involved in the model for participant-driven program development. This initiative fostered new collaborations with independent organizers across various fields, including performing arts and circus, music, film, art, and workshops.
Across different disciplines
Highlights included festivals such as the Harvest Festival, the Mushroom Festival, and The Night Academy. Many participants remained actively engaged in the development of the site even after the project's conclusion.
The events showcased a wide range of genres and catered to diverse target groups, offering everything from cultural experiences to popular education. Activities included masterclasses, international guest performances in circus, garden salons, rock croquis, workshops, and vernissages, enriching the community with dynamic and inclusive programming.
The engagement is there
We have seen clear evidence of the value and demand for the participatory program development method explored through this project. The initiative has generated significant engagement from the Blivande community, active contributors at Frihamnstorget, as well as new collaborators and professional cultural producers. Our efforts to connect with the public and raise awareness about opportunities for co-creation in shaping the future of Frihamnen.
What is next ?
Our intention is to continue this program annually with the available funding. We aim to maintain Frihamnstorget as an open and welcoming space where artists and cultural producers can bring their projects and draw inspiration from its community. Our vision is to create a place where professional artists and amateurs come together, bridging the divide that often exists in traditional cultural institutions. Join us and be part of the co-creation!
