The Night Academy (past)

Last Update
November 2024
A gathering and community where nightlife creators from across the world met over seven days to exchange skills, knowledge and creativity. All to inspire and enable positive change on both venue and city level. This project was financed by Kulturådet and took place in 2023.

Stockholm After Dark (SAD)

SAD is was nightlife conference about what Stockholm can and should learn from Berlin and other leading cities of the night. What is at stake here is nothing but Stockholm’s future as a vibrant and awake city after the boomers and the toddler parents have gone to bed.
Bless them, but the city needs to be for everyone, everywhere!
The quality and diversity of our nightlife is of immense long-term importance (either directly and indirectly) to the quality of life of almost everyone in our beloved city.

Why24?

WHY is Stockholm not a 24-hour city? WHY does it feel like our nightlife is not for everyone? WHY are so many venues and clubs being forced to shut down? WHY do we settle for rinse and repeat with the ones that remain?

WHY24? was a 24-hour festival in the name of the better future that lies ahead, if we together make the effort to answer these and other burning questions.

Masterclasses

In May 2024, Riverside Studios Berlin and Blivande hosted masterclasses in Stockholm focused on electronic music, metal art, and cultural community management. Workshops like “Touching Sound,” “The Art of Heavy Metal,” and “Herding Cats & Nightowls” featured renowned artists and experts sharing their skills. Held at Blivande, the event offered hands-on learning with leading experts in a vibrant and creative environment.

The Night Academy Documentary

During the project, a student group documented the process, resulting in a six-chapter mini-documentary. This film captured key moments, insights, and the creative energy of the masterclasses.
