Studio Tau, formerly known as Transformalin, is a hub for participatory artist. This space boasts a spacious, high-ceilinged workshop ideal for large-scale projects. It serves as both a creative studio and an educational center, where creators of artist and participatory cultural professionals can teach, collaborate, and co-create with others.

Original Transformalin vision

In 2018, as part of Blivande's inception journey, the founding team received a 1 million SEK grant to establish a workshop for participatory culture and art production. Drawing inspiration from The Generator in Reno, USA—a renowned workshop for participatory art, particularly for Burning Man—they formed a mentorship agreement to use The Generator as a model for their own space. This type of workshop allows creators to commission artworks and installations for festivals and events, or to apply for money from established funds knowing that they have the premises and tools to implement the project. This provides a completely different financial sustainability to participatory arts groups.

Frihamnens Kollektivverkstäder

Today, Transformalin has evolved into an independent association of artists, makers, and creators within the organizational ecosystem of Blivande. Since the summer of 2024, the association, now known as "Frihamnens Kollektivverkstäder," has been established with the primary aim of providing artists and creative groups with the opportunity to work in spaces organized by the association. Its mission is to support and nurture participatory artistic and creative endeavors by offering accessible, collaborative work environments for individuals and collectives alike.
